1. What is UCLA Happenings?
Happenings is a super-cool way to find out what’s happening on campus. Happenings gets you more involved with UCLA with no more effort required than to go to an event. Happenings allows you to meet people and establish community. In a world where UCLA students, faculty, and staff are increasingly busy trying to catch up with their own fast paced lives, happenings offers fast-paced solutions for a social life.
Need something to do tonight? Happenings is there.
Need a date idea? Happenings is there.
Forgot to make dinner reservations for your anniversary? Happenings can’t help you there, but it can provide you with a healthy alternative.
2. What kinds of things can I find on Happenings?
A wide array of events happening right under your nose (on campus). Happenings has three categories of events:
Sports,
Arts, and
Lectures. However, sometimes events don’t fit cleanly into one of these three categories, so they take the best fit. For example, a Blood Drive would be categorized under Lectures, since it’s not a sport or art (to most of us).
3. What information is provided on happenings?
Limited event information. You will find everything you need to know on the sites to which happenings links. It’s just a click away.
4. How can I get an event on Happenings? Are there are requirements?
There are three things you need to post an event on happenings:
- The event must take place on the UCLA Campus (Hammer Museum, Kinross building, and Marine Aquatic Center are included). UCLA Rec Outdoor Adventure events are the only exception to the rule, since they happen everywhere.
- A website which the event posting can link to. Preferably the event must be submitted to the Campus Calendar with enough time for it to be posted on that site. Happenings and the Campus Calendar go hand in hand. Like peas and carrots.
- Send us a high quality photo to work with.
5. Where has Happenings been all my life?
Since November 2004 Happenings has been comin’ at you with all types of crazy cool events that you never even knew happened on your fair campus. The question, then, is: where have you been all Happenings’ life? In your face!
6. Why is UCLA Happenings so cool?
You tried in vain to search for something to do, so many lonely days, nights and lunch hours when you knew something was out there waiting for you. And now, Happenings is here for you, coming live and direct - uniting UCLA through promotion and communication. The world is looking up (inspirational music).
7. Will I become hipper, cooler and all around a better person if I use happenings for even a short period of time?
Yes. Instantaneously. (*Results may depend on a number of factors)
8. Will I get more dates if I use happenings?
You’d be surprised how often we get this question. Indeed, UCLA Happenings, with proper use, can be your one stop source of last minute or even highly premeditated date planning.
9. In recent studies, Happenings has been shown to be awesome. Is that really the case?
Unquestionably so.
10. I just got dumped by my boy/girlfriend and/or ditched by my friends. Can you help me Happenings? Can you turn my life around?
We can certainly help.
11. How is it possible that this amazing service is free for me?
Think of Happenings as Robin Hood, or Paul Revere (from that beastie boys song), or a really good advertising company for some big firm like Pepsi. Except we are for the UCLA community, uniting and promoting diversity and involvement in the UCLA among its valiant students, venerated faculty and courageous staff.
12. If I use the campus calendar, why is happenings necessary?
Happenings provides UCLA event information in an easy to use, organized fashion that people the campus over have come to know and love. It’s like a book with pictures to attract the feeblest of attentions and, if you are pressed for time, you’ll be able to see events that are not given special attention elsewhere. We promote events. Events you want to know about. Events you never knew existed.
